Most gracious Lord, Master, Messiah and Saviour of humanity,
we greet Thee in all humility.
Thou art the First Cause and the Last Effect,
the Divine Light and the Spirit of Guidance,
Alpha and Omega.
Thy Light is in all forms, Thy Love in all beings;
in a loving mother, in a kind father, in an innocent child,
in a helpful friend, in an inspiring teacher.
Allow us to recognize Thee in all Thy holy names and forms;
as Rama, as Krishna, as Shiva, as Buddha.
Let us know Thee as Abraham, as Solomon, as Zarathustra,
as Moses, as Jesus, as Mohammed,
and in many other names and forms,
known and unknown to the world.
We adore Thy past.
Thy Presence deeply enlightenth our beings,
and we look for Thy blessings in the future.
O Messenger, Christ, Nabi, the Rasul of God!
Thou whose heart constantly reacheth upwards,
Thou comest on earth with the Message,
as a dove from above when dharma decayeth,
and speakest the word that is put into Thy mouth,
as the light filleth the crescent moon.
Let the star of the Divine Light shining in Thy heart
be reflected in the hearts of Thy devotees.
May the Message of God reach far and wide,
illuminating and making the whole humanity
as one single Brotherhood,
in the Fatherhood of God.

To the question asked, as to why the names of the founders of the great world religions are invoked in the Sufi prayer Salat, one could recall the historical facts which reveal that in the ancient days, the religious patriarchs and their followers believed in God, using different names when expressing their devotion to the all-pervading. They felt in their hearts the need to worship and to pray, which explains why various religions blossomed in different parts of the world, using different terminology to explain abstract concepts, and performing different forms of worship, although some similar symbols can be traced in most of the ancient religions.
The Sufis study the various religious scriptures of different religions, which were the only guidelines available in the past. It is obvious that the same great ideals are found in all scriptures, although the mode of expression is different according to the various types of cultures existing prior to our time.

The eyes are open, steadily looking forwards during the whole prayer
Raising the hands upwards symbolizes the raising of the Divine ideal in one's own estimation.
Remembrance
We greet Thee with all humility.
The hands are folded, the glance is downward.
O Messenger, Christ, Nabi, the Rasul of God!
The joining of the palms together expresses the unity of the soul and body which are placed before the Divine.

This symbolizes raising the ideal of the Divine to one's highest understanding.

The hands are lifted to above the forehead, briefing touching the head.
That which has been offered in the prayer is brought to the temple of God, the body.
The hands are brought downward along the sides of the body, not actually touching it, then finally turned outward with palms facing down.

Clasping the right hand over the left in the silence.
