The Sufi Movement in Canada (SMIC) is affiliated with its brothers and sisters of The Sufi Movement International. The non-profit organization offers information and events as an ongoing service with the hope of making this precious spiritual resource freely available to all who are drawn to the Sufi experience.

Lake O'Hara Sufi Camp, ran each year in the high Canadian Rocky Mountains from 1980 to 2002 and it would not be an exageration to say that The Sufi Movement In Canada was born from the extraordinary work accomplished in those 23 years.

Murshid Hidayat Inayat-Khan

Murshid Hidayat Inayat-Khan came to Lake O'Hara Camp in 1982 and after that year, led the camp on a permanent basis. The Sufi Movement In Canada was made a non-profit, charitable organization in the fall of 1983.

The Sufi Message deeply informs Hidayat Inayat-Khan's teachings. It is a philosophy that promotes the realization of Unity and Spiritual Liberty which has always been intended for the whole of humanity. The Sufi Message, with it's ideal of Love, Harmony and Beauty is today expressed by the the Sufi Movement International, founded by Murshid Hidayat's father, Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan. Other organizations are equally committed to the spread of The Sufi Message including the Sufi Order International, the Sufi Ruhaniat International, the Sufi Way and many others, known and unknown.
